What to Expect
Covenant Chapel is located a few miles south of Kansas City. Our aim is to Encounter God, Encourage Others, and Engage the World with the gospel. Here's what you can expect if you visit Covenant.
Music
Generally speaking, Covenant Chapel worship music is "contemporary". Music is led by vocalists, an acoustic guitar and a band comprised of a piano, bass, drums, rhythym guitar, keyboard, and occasionally a saxophone and violin. The song selection ranges from modern worship music from artists like Chris Tomlin and the David Crowder Band to classic hymns tastefully redone. Worship is primarily led by Phillip Sandifer, Covenant Chapel's director of worship and creative arts.
Messages
Pastor Dave Robinson is our primary teaching pastor. His messages, and all Covenant Chapel messages, are rooted in scripture - exploring Biblical truths and their practical application on our lives as followers of Christ. Listen to current and past messages on our Sermon Audio page.
Communion
At Covenant Chapel we celebrate communion weekly. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, regardless of your denomination or church affiliation, we invite you to participate with us. At the appropriate time, during Sunday morning services, an usher will direct your row to stand and file toward the front of the worship center, where our communion servers are. When you reach the communion servers, take a piece of bread and dip it into the cup (we use grape juice in place of wine). You are welcome to consume the communion elements immediately after you've received them, or take them back to your seat with you.
Dress
Please feel comfortable to come as you are. On Sunday morning most people at Covenant Chapel wear something from jeans and a polo shirt to business casual. Few, if any, wear formal attire.
Children/Youth
At Covenant Chapel, we have something for your entire family. Here are several options for you to consider:
- Children and youth of all ages are welcome to attend either of our services at 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. (For your convenience, a children's bulletin is availble and there is a "cry room" located at the back of the worship center)
- Children (birth through 5th grade) can participate in Nursery and Children's ministry activities during both Sunday morning services
- Middle School students (6th through 8th grade) can participate in Middle School ministry activities during the 11:00 a.m. service
- High School students (9th through 12th grade) can participate in High School ministry activities during the 11:00 a.m. service
All children and student activities are held on the downstairs floor of our facility.
