Family: wife Kim, daughters Kirby and Emmy, sons Bo and Cooper.
Influences: My Dad’s (heaven and earth), my buddies, difficulties and challenges, Oswald Chambers, Kris Cooper, Joe White, my wife and kids.
Epic Moments: The day I found a Gideon’s Bible in my hospital tray and the day I realized there was a God and I wasn’t Him (come to think of it, that was the same day…)
In My Spare Time: I ride my bicycle, chase pheasants, hide from ducks, golf my ball, yell at/for the Jayhawks and watch my kids become grown-ups
Books: Prodigal God by Tim Keller, Sacred Romance and Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, Safely Home by Randy Alcorn, The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel, and that Book the Gideons in my hospital tray.
Music: Zac Brown Band, Bebo Norman, James Taylor, Rascal Flatts, George Winston, Norah Jones, Kansas, Nickel Creek, Brad Paisley, Earth Wind & Fire
Movies: It’s a Wonderful Life, Caddy Shack, Chariots of Fire, The Cowboys, Glory, 310 to Yuma
Food: steaks on the grill, sushi, pizza, Five Guys or In n’ Out Burger, Stroud’s chicken livers, General Tso’s Chicken and breakfast at any diner or truck stop in America!
At Starbucks, I order: From Thanksgiving ‘til well after Christmas, I prefer the ‘Big Mac in a Cup’ (a.k.a. Egg Nog Latte). The rest of the year, I settle for the ‘Triple Vente Soy Latte -- No-Foam, Extra Hot, Double Cupped’
Biggest Frustration: When I’m “quick to speak, slow to listen, quick to anger” (instead of the other way around.) When “Christians” are selfish, especially when it’s me.
Motivation: That I might someday be half the man my Labrador Retriever thinks I am!
Personal Motto: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and sin that so easily entangles, and let run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right side of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12: 1-3
Your role at Covenant Chapel: To share my tools with my fellow workers. To learn, love and laugh with my co-heirs in the grace and mercy of Jesus. To help remove barriers that exist between people and the God who loves them.
