Kidz Cove Sunday School

Sunday mornings at Covenant Chapel is the place to be for kids.  There are two hours of ministry for children from birth through the fifth grade.  

Nursery Kidz (birth - 36 months) are given age appropriate care where each caregiver strives to provide a loving, secure and safe environment for our babies.  We have two classes in the Nursery ministry, birth-18 months and 19-36 months.  The 19-36 month class has age appropriate teaching using the Betty Lukens Felt Board curriculum.

Preschool Kidz (3 years - Kindergarten) participate in a classroom environment where the child learns Bible stories that help build an understanding of who God is and how much He cares and loves them.  Our instruction over the two hours is thematic, the same lesson using Standard Publishers, but taught differently, teaching and using centers where the teacher can engage the children as they play in guided discussion about the lesson for the day. 

Grade School Kidz (first - fifth grade) are offered two identical hours of age-appropriate Bible teaching in large and small groups. We use the 252 Basic curriculum by the reThink Group.  We encourage parents to bring their children to worship one hour and the other hour have their children participate in Sunday School.  During the adult worship hour we provide Kidz Worship Bulletins, they can be picked up in the Worship Center on Sunday mornings.

AWANA Ministries

On Wednesday nights during the school year, kids (birth - 5th grade) meet in the Kidz Cove Center for AWANA, from 6:45-8:15 pm.  There are different clubs for different ages:

  • Childcare (Infants - 2 years)
  • Cubbies (3-4 year olds, two years prior to the start of Kindergarten)
  • Sparks (Kindergarten - 2nd grade)
  • Truth & Training (3rd - 5th grade)

During AWANA kids will participate in a large-group time, handbook time and game time.  Children are encouraged to invite their friends, everyone is welcome.  Children must register and pay a registration fee to participate in Awana.  There is no fee for childcare.

Childcare Ministry

The purpose of our childcare ministry is to help support our adult ministries by providing safe, secure and loving care to children up to Kindergarten age.  In some cases there is a  fee associated with childcare.  If you are seeking childcare for a church sponsored event, please contact Lew Potter (913) 663-3095, x 296.
