Family: Wife Marsha, kids Simon, Elise, Juliana

Influences: God, Mom and Dad, Marsha, Kelly Liebengood, Eddy Helker, Paul Parsons, Dallas Willard, John Blashford Snell, and others

Epic Moments: Giving God control of my heart and my life at a coffee shop in Lawrence, KS, marrying Marsha, my kids’ births, starting my band with Greg and Jim, accepting God’s call to full-time worship ministry, accepting this position at Covenant Chapel.

Spare Time: anything music, anything computers, anything nature (opposite of computers), trying to figure out how to open my garage door with my cell phone, playing “Wonderthrow” with my kids

Books: The Bible, Divine Conspiracy, The Great Divorce, Ancient Future Worship, a few Phillip K. Dick books, The Tolkien Ring Trilogy, Lewis’ Silent Planet books, and some other books

Music: Coldplay, David Gray, weird sounding stuff (in measured doses), a cappella music done well, Octarium, oldies, newbies, Avett Brothers, Hank Sr., NOT current country, a little Wilco, a few 70’s and 80’s one-hit-wonders

Movies: The Three Amigos, Fletch, Star Wars Trilogy (the new ones are OK but I really like the re-mastered old ones better), documentaries about the middle east, the far east, Egypt, The Manhattan Project, and British guys who attempt to sail around the world

Food: Oh geez – pretty much anything. I love Greek food, pizza, soup, and really great organic steaks

At Starbucks, I order a: Grande Americano with an inch of room for half-and-half

Biggest Frustration: choosing to complain about problems without the willingness to be part of the solution

Motivation: Wanting to show Jesus how much I appreciate the way He loves me, Philippians 2:12, Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 6:31-34

Personal Motto: Well right now it would probably be, “hard work/abundant joy”

Your role at Covenant Chapel (in your own words): To promote worship in all its forms through prayer, service, fellowship, and development of liturgical worship for our Sunday morning services.
