God is at work in amazing ways at Covenant Chapel these days. And this past year hundreds of you have stepped up to serve in roles both inside and outside our church. Well it’s time again to consider how you can get involved in serving. Below is a list of current serving opportunities based on the needs of our church body (and don’t worry, training is provided for these positions):

SUNDAY MORNING

Information Center Hosts

  • # Volunteers Needed: 2-3
  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes before and after the service; One Sunday a month
  • Description: Provide information for visitors, keep people informed about upcoming events, direct people to connection teams, and facilitate event sign-up.

Sunday Morning Greeters

  • # Volunteers Needed: 4 (2 for 9:30 service, 2 for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: 45 minutes; one Sunday per month
  • Description: Arrive 30 minutes prior to service and greet people entering service

Ushers – 11:00 Service

  • # Volunteers Needed: 2-4
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes (10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.); One Sunday per month
  • Description:  Greet people entering the sanctuary, hand out bulletins, assist people in sanctuary, count attendees and assist in offering and communion direction.

Backup Ushers – 9:30 Service

  • # Volunteers Needed: 2
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes (9 -10:45 a.m.); 4-6 Sundays per year
  • Description:  Greet people entering the sanctuary, hand out bulletins, assist people in sanctuary, count attendees and assist in offering and communion direction.

Connection Link Team Members

  • # Volunteers Needed: 4
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes one Sunday per month
  • Description:  Look for and connect with visitors, help create a friendly, welcoming experience on Sunday mornings.

Communion Servers

  • # Volunteers needed: 4-8 (4 for 9:30 service; 4 for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: one Sunday a month
  • Description: One of 5 communion servers at each service.  *Must be a member of Covenant Chapel for this position.*

Donuts 

  • # Volunteers needed: 2
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes before service, one month commitment
  • Description: Pick up donuts at 9 a.m.  and set them up next to coffee bar

Coffee Servers

  • # Volunteers needed: 4
  • Time commitment: 15 minutes prior to or after services
  • Description: Set up coffee bar and set out condiments before and after first service and clean up after 2nd service

KIDZ COVE

SUNDAY MORNINGS:

Welcome Desk

  • # Volunteers Needed: 7 (3 for 9:30 service, 4 for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes a week; once a month
  • Description: Staff the Kidz Cove welcome desk on Sunday morning during either the 9:30 or 11 a.m. service. Welcome families and help monitor attendance.

Small Group Leader – Elementary School

  • # Volunteers Needed: 4 (for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes a week; 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off
  • Description: Lead small group of elementary school students in Kidz Cove. Small group leaders do not need to prepare in advance; the main responsibility is to form a relationship with the kids, lead easy games, and direct question/answer time.

Elementary School Teacher

  • # Volunteers Needed:  2 (for 9:30 service)
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes a week; 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off
  • Description: Lead and teach curriculum developed by Kidz Cove leadership. Requires some preparation for lessons.

Nursery – Infants (birth-18 months)

  • # Volunteers Needed: 12 (6 for 9:30 service; 6 for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes a week; 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off
  • Description: Babysit infants during one of the Sunday morning worship services.

Nursery – Toddlers (19-36 months)

  • # Volunteers Needed: 12 (6 for 9:30 service; 6 for 11:00 service)
  • Time Commitment: 90 minutes a week; 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off

Preschool – age 3

Preschool – Wee Worship Leaders

  • Description: Lead worship time for preschoolers during the 11:00 hour.

AWANA:

Awana Games Director

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours a week, Wednesdays during the school year
  • Description: Plan and lead game time for each club (Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T)

Awana Cubbies Director (Aged two years prior to Kindergarten)

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours a week, Wednesdays during the school year
  • Description: Oversees the running of the Cubbies club including large group time (announcements, award presentations, bible stories, puppet show, etc.), discipline, interaction with parents, and clubber development.

Awana T&T Secretary (Aged 3rd Grade – 5th Grade)

  • Description: Clerical club manager responsible for the T&T Boys Club or T&T Girls Club

Awana T&T Directors (Aged 3rd Grade – 5th Grade)

  • # Volunteers Needed: 2 (1 Boys Director, 1 Girls Director)
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours a week, Wednesdays during the school year

STUDENT MINISTRIES

Middle School Female Leaders

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1-3
  • Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week, additional time for discipleship if applicable
  • Description: Lead 6-8th grade girls in a large and/or small group setting for one or more of the following:  Sunday morning youth group, Wednesday night youth group, middle school trips.

High School Leaders

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1-2 male leaders; 1-2 female leaders
  • Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week, additional time for discipleship if applicable
  • Description: Lead 9-12th grade students in a large and/or small group setting for one or more of the following:  Sunday morning youth group, Wednesday night youth group, personal discipleship, high school trips.

Student Ministries Worship Leaders

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1-3
  • Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week 2 or more Sunday mornings per month
  • Description: Help plan and lead worship for Sunday Morning youth group. Enjoys singing and/or playing an instrument to lead worship. Works with the youth band to plan and lead worship on Sunday morning.

Student Ministries Administration

  • Description: Help with administration for student ministries. Administrative tasks include contact/attendance database, visitor follow-up, filing, trip administration.

PRAYER

Pastor Prayer Partner

  • # Volunteers Needed: As many as are led
  • Time commitment: Approximately 2 hours per week
  • Description: Pray on your own daily or several times a week for the confidential prayer requests that are submitted by pastors Dave and Doug every month. This opportunity requires you to sign a confidentiality and commitment agreement.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

Baked Goods and Gift Items

  • # Volunteers Needed: as many as possible
  • Time Commitment: varied
  • Description: The Women’s Ministry is hosting Covenant Chapel’s Bountiful Blessing Bake Sale on November 20, 2011. We need volunteers to provide baked goods and gift items for us to sell to raise funds for women’s ministry.

COMMUNITY MISSIONS

Community Missions Prayer Partners

  • Description: praying for our community partners and those they serve on a regular basis. Please commit to 6 months of praying.

Community Missions Team Members

  • # Volunteers Needed: 3
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours a month plus various events
  • Description: Help lead the community missions efforts of Covenant Chapel. This should be someone who is passionate about providing opportunities for our congregation to go beyond its walls. Please commit for one year or more.

Second Saturday Homeless Outreach Leaders

  • # Volunteers Needed: 5
  • Time Commitment: 2-3 hours, once or twice a year
  • Description: A person, community group or family that will plan one night at the family shelter. We provide all the other volunteers and you just plan activity that engages family time, someone to share the gospel, and fun! Training provided.

Testimony/Devotional Sharers for Homeless Outreaches

  • # Volunteers Needed: 4
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours twice a year
  • Description: share testimony and/or Gospel at the family shelter during Second Saturday Homeless Outreach evenings at City Union Mission. Training provided.

INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS

International Missions Committee Members

  • # Volunteers Needed: as many as possible
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours per month plus various responsibilities
  • Description: People with a heart for international missions who want to pray for the spread of the Gospel throughout the World and help send missionaries.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE

Providing Meals

  • # Volunteers Needed: Unlimited
  • Time commitment: Varies according to needs
  • Description: Serve on a rotating basis making and bringing meals to families in the congregation with newborn babies, and those dealing with serious illnesses or a death in the immediate family.

Helping Hands

  • # Volunteers Needed: Unlimited
  • Time commitment: Varies according to needs
  • Description:  Help meet temporary needs of congregants by using your gifts and abilities. Includes, but is not limited to, such projects as minor house and car repairs and lawn care as well as help with budget planning and other types of consultation.

Contact Care (Hospital and Home Visitation) 

  • # Volunteers Needed: Unlimited
  • Time commitment: Varies according to needs
  • Description: Serve on a rotating basis with other team members making hospital and home visits to congregants. Other opportunities involve writing notes and cards and making phone calls to those who need encouragement.

Veil of Tears (Grief Support)

  • Time commitment: Varies according to needs
  • Description: Come alongside those in the congregation who have lost an immediate family member and support them through the first year of grief by staying in regular contact and meeting needs.

WORSHIP TEAM

Morning Directors

  • # Volunteers Needed: 2
  • Time Commitment: 5 hours a week; 1-2 weeks a month
  • Description: Arrive early on Sunday mornings to ensure media and sound systems are working properly. (Training provided.) Assist media and sound volunteers with running Sunday morning services.

Sound Technicians

  • Description: Run sound for Sunday morning services. (Training provided.) Help create good sound mix to ensure good audio quality in Sanctuary.

Multimedia/Lights Technicians

  • Description: Run multimedia computer and lights for Sunday morning services. (Training provided.) Work with Morning Directors to ensure smooth transitions between service elements

  • Description: Play instruments for Sunday morning services. Attend Wednesday night rehearsals and arrive early on Sunday morning to practice with the worship team.

  • Description: Help lead Covenant Chapel in worship as a member of the adult choir

Wednesday Night Dinners - COOKING

  • # Volunteers Needed: 16
  • Time Commitment: 4 hours once a month – Wednesdays during the school year
  • Description: Planning for, shopping, and cooking a meal for approximately 100 people for a Wednesday night dinner. (Great project for a small group.)

Wednesday Night Dinners – CLEAN UP

  • # Volunteers Needed: 16
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours once a month – Wednesdays during the school year
  • Description: Taken down tables and reset chairs after a Wednesday night dinner at Covenant Chapel. Wash dishes and clean kitchen. (Great project for a small group.)

Bread Pickup for Local Charities

  • # Volunteers Needed: 1-2
  • Time Commitment: 2 hours once or twice each quarter (Sunday nights at 8 p.m.)
  • Description: pick up bread from 2 Panera locations and drop off the bread in the kitchen at Covenant Chapel. The bread is delivered to local charities the following day.
